After teaching at Southeast for many years, Jeanette Blide is retiring after this year. In her honor, her fellow English teachers decided to honor her in a special way. They decided to order and make shirts with Blide’s face on them to wear in their yearbook pictures.
The other English teachers decided to go back and find pictures of Blide throughout her time at Southeast.
“So I went and found a little picture from her, like, her first year of teaching,” English teacher Jacob Thimesch said. “Some other people found just pictures of her that we had, and some people have known her longer, got ones from like, when she was young, like back in the 80s.”
Blide’s reaction was unexpected and also heartwarming to the other teachers.
“She loved it,” Thimesch said. “She said it’s one of the best days she’s had since she’s been.”
The purpose behind of the Blide shirts was to show appreciation for Blide and the impact she’s had on the school.
“Shes just so special to us. We’ve been friends for a long time at the old building, too and transferred here and she’s just a kind and generous soul,” English teacher Tracy Catlin said.
Blide filled the hearts of many English teachers with her gratitude. As Blide’s feelings about the whole surprise, she felt happy about the people around her.
“It meant the world to me,” Blide said. “I know Miss Fallon, my good friend, put it all together and for them to wear the shirts on Picture Day, and everybody wear one. It was just amazing.”
