Wichita has gotten many new food and drink spots over the years but nothing quite like Just A Sip. If you’re unfamiliar with “dirty soda,” it’s a big drink trend that has been growing throughout the country. It’s a drink consisting of soda “spiked” with cream and flavored syrups or fruit juices.

Just A Sip is a new drive-through drink chain that is local to Wichita. Just A Sip offers a new take on classic drinks, such as their “Sassy Sodas” and drinks including “Caramel Kiss” which is Dr. Pepper mixed with Salted Caramel and Italian Cream. 

I checked out Just A Sip with my sister Grace and mom Sarah. I had the “Papa Pepper” which was Dr. Pepper, cherry, and Italian cream. As a big fan of Dr. Pepper, I loved this drink and thought it tasted really good and had a long-lasting flavor. 

My mom tried the strawberry lemonade. “It feels very good. it’s very refreshing. And like its kind of like if you want soda but you don’t want like hot. You want a fizzy beverage but it’s not overwhelmingly sugary, it’s very crisp and very clean. And it’s very good,” she said.

Although the strawberry lemonade seems like a basic drink, this is one of the best strawberry lemonades I have ever tasted. 

On the other hand, my sister had a “sassy soda,” called “Sunflower Fields,” which is pomegranate, raspberry, fresh lime and fresh orange on a Mountain Dew base. “You don’t taste the punchiness of Mountain Dew. It has a slight Mountain Dew vibe to it but it’s not like ‘feel the dew!’ You know, it’s very classy. You know it is a very sassy soda,” she said.

Another drink that was taste tested was one of their “Sassy Kids” drinks, “Ocean Wave.” This drink is a Sprite base with raspberry and cherry syrup, lemonade and gummy candy. My mom and sister had the same idea about this drink, they both thought it tasted like grape Kool-Aid or sparkling grape juice. Finally I had a custom hot cocoa. With the custom cocoas you can add any flavor, whip cream, and syrup. I just got hot cocoa with toasted marshmallow syrup. 

I overall said it was a 6 out of 10, my sister, Grace, gave Sunflower Fields an 8/10 rating, meanwhile my mom’s strawberry lemonade got a whopping 9 out of 10. Overall, my mom, sister and I thought Just A Sip was really good and had very enthusiastic drinks.
